Main tasks attributed in the project

WP3: Participation in advanced A&F single-user transmission and dynamic use of CSI in cooperative relaying systems.
WP4: Study of a cluster-based power control algorithm together linked with the cell-based link adaptation mechanism.
WP5: Study on the reduction of the MAC overhead due to signalling by instantaneously choosing the best relays and thus decreasing the signalling overhead of inactive relays.
WP6: Participation in three different activities:

Provide multiple antenna structures for interference mitigation, channel capacity improvement taking into account limited form factor of devices (e.g. relays, terminals).
Innovative RF compensation schemes for high order modulation support.
Flexible digital PHY for high throughput including opportunistic spectrum usage. Integration in the platform provided by P05.

Expertise

CEA has a large experience of multi-carrier techniques. In the STRIKE project, which CEA coordinated, innovative MTMR schemes were developed for IEEE802.16-2004 capacity and coverage improvement. The selected schemes were demonstrated in the proof of concept demonstrator that CEA was leading. These studies were continued in the FIREWORKS project in which CEA studied cooperative techniques for OFDMA systems. In this project, CEA also studies requirement and specifications of antenna structures in relays, though the implementation is out of the scope of FIREWORKS. In MATRICE some RF compensation schemes were studied this included mainly I/Q imbalance and TX/RX frequency offset. In this project, a platform lead by CEA demonstrated the feasibility of MC-CDMA schemes that was implemented in a System on Chip within the 4-MORE project that CEA has coordinated.
