Main tasks attributed in the project

WP1: ICOM main role concerns the monitoring of the progress of existing and emerging standards as well as the coordination of the dissemination of project results. ICOM will also provide input in the definition of the usage scenarios, the related deployment scenarios and propagation scenarios as well as the system requirements.
WP3: ICOM will investigate, design and evaluate spectrum-efficient multi-user cooperative strategies and transmission/reception algorithms involving multiple sources and/or destinations.
WP4: ICOM will contribute to the feasibility/efficiency study of more than to hops communication in an ad-hoc topology as well as to the utilization of routing layer protocols and cross-layer designs for optimum resource management.
WP6: ICOM will provide a HW/SW platform and pre-existing IP for the development of the ROCKET proof-of-concept implementation, and contribute to the development and integration of MAC & PHY algorithms and to the evaluation and demonstration of the prototype system.

Expertise

INTRACOM TELECOM has strong R&D presence at European level, through which it has gained has significant experience in the design and implementation of broadband wireless telecommunication systems. The Broadband Systems Department co-ordinates company's participation in a considerable number of Research and Development projects. The department has a very strong presence in several major European Research Programs, such as ESPRIT, ACTS, IST, Telematics Applications, etc. This has resulted in having the largest industrial participation in Greece, for the EU funded projects. INTRACOM acted as Prime Contractor in a number of 7th Framework Programme - ICT PROJECTs (e.g. ADAMAS, STINGRAY, FIREWORKS, AMDREL, ADRIATIC, EASY, ASPIS, PERLA, etc.).
